Product Description

A pump machine is the most traditional and well-known way to make espresso, using the filter holder and ground coffee. This simple but effective 15 bar pressure machine will make both espresso and cappuccino and is the ideal introduction to the world of coffee, as well as a hands-on Barista experience at home. The De'Longhi EC270 can be used with both ground coffee and ESE (Easy Serving Espresso) pods, for added convenience. It is simple to use, with just three buttons required for operation (on/off, coffee and cappuccino), and there is no limit to the number of cups that can be made. The cappuccino system involves a built-in manual steaming arm that mixes steam, air and milk to produce a rich and creamy froth. The EC270 includes a self-priming system that keeps the machine ready for use at all times and two separate thermostats to control the water and steam temperatures. The transparent water reservoir has a capacity of 1 Litre. The machine has a cup warmer to pre-warm your coffee cups as well as a Crema filter holder, a removable metal drip tray and an incorporated coffee tamper.

    Customer Reviews

I am very impressed with this coffee maker. The coffee is exceptional the machine looks good, too.
It is important that proper ground espresso coffee is used if you want the best results. I have used mine for about three months and have made coffee on an almost daily basis. It's quick and if you're really pressed for time use the ESE (Easy Serving Espresso) sachets (I got a packet of 18 free inside the box with the machine, worth about £4,50).
The price of the machine is very reasonable, too.

I was delighted to get one of these last Christmas, and found that as well as looking good, this machine makes very nice coffee indeed. However, after a few weeks it started to leak, so back it went to the shop (it wasn't bought from Amazon) for a replacement. The replacement smelled of new plastic, which I didn't think was a problem, until the coffee started to taste of plastic - and the taste got worse and worse over a month or so. No matter how much I washed the receptacles and bits and pieces, it got worse, and tainted the coffee. Back to the shop, where I got a couple of machines out of their boxes, and gave them a good sniff. One had the same plastic smell, the other didn't, so I asked for that one as a replacement.
This was all a bit of a faff - although the machine is very solidly built, there does seem to be a quality control issue at DeLonghi so really I should take more than one star off - but like I said, it does make extremely nice coffee.
