Customer Reviews
I've had this machine for a week now and I'm very pleased. I must admit I sourced it from another store where I had some gift vouchers. I couldn't find any user reviews of the machine so I was keen to help anyone considering this machine.
I'd give it a 9 out of 10 but that's not an option so I've gone for 5 stars.
I use it with a Krups Coffee mill and to me, the coffee (appearance, crema, aroma and taste) is excellent.
I shopped around for a while and I'd compared this to the Gaggia machines. The Gaggia machines costing less than GBP200 seemed to not be as robust as this. The only weakness when compared to the more expensive `Gaggia Black Espresso Pure' (about GBP 30 more) is that the filter holder/ handle does not feel as weighty. I'm told by a Gaggia salesman in my local store that this is important; however the Dualit handle feels solid enough to do the job and to last, so I can't see this as an issue.
This machine is almost all metal and feels very solid. The water tank can be topped up in situ, or easily removed from the back to be emptied or washed. The steamer works well. I've made Espresso, Latte, Cappuccino and Americano and they all taste as good as anything from one of the big chain coffee shops.
Read the manual and be prepared for a few under par attempts but once you get the hang of it you won't look back - Interesting comment on an earlier review about temperature - my machine had a supplementary page with the manual telling you to fill your cup first with hot water from the machine. If you use large, cold crockery and cold milk I can see what they mean. Watch out for that learning curve then enjoy your coffee!
