Considering how much 'proper' burr grinders cost, I wasn't expecting perfection, but the positive review here encouraged me to go for this item on trust. I have to say I'm delighted and amazed at how good it is! It's neat, tidy and compact. Doesn't seem to make a mess with all the ground coffee captured neatly in a well sealed container. The adjustments for both the amount and coarseness of grind seem remarkably accurate and consistent from use to use. As for the reviewer that said the grind wasn't fine enough, well I'm amazed because I started out on the finest setting and the results seemed almost too fine, certainly as fine or finer that the Lavazza coffee I used to buy.
Anyway, I think this is and excellent bit of kit and great value for money, so highly recommended! I only held back one star because the small container makes it a bit tricky to transfer the ground coffee to the filter cup.
Oh and one last tip. Any stones in the beans will trash any burr grinder, but as stones are much heavier than beans, they will sink to the bottom of the bean container if given a little shake. So just make sure that you always pour that last few beans into a bowl and have a quick look through, rather than dumping the end of the tin or bag straight into your grinder.

I use this with the Delongi Treviso espresso/cappuccino maker. There is one review which says the grind is not good enough for espresso. Well it's definitely good enough for very strong cappuccino. If you use the fine grind setting for the 2 cup setting, then the slow burr grind delivers a very fine grind and THAT aroma. This is a very good grinder + it automatically stops according to your cup setting. There is very little else on the burr grinder market at this price. So for all you espresso/cappuccino lovers this is the one. Love the coffee it produces.

I am lucky to have access to a Nespresso machine in work, and having enjoyed the various different types of coffee from it, which are really nice, so I was a little worried that by buying this 'cheaper' product that I would be compromising on quality.
However in my humble opinion, the Philips Senseo trumps the Nespresso!
After much research my reasons for opting for the Senseo were as follows...
1. Cheaper outlay cost (although this was not the deal maker for me, as more often than not, you do pay for what you get.....but not in this instance!)
2. Cheaper cost of the coffee pods as opposed to Nespresso pods and Dolce Gusto capsules.
3. More availability of coffee. Majority of leading supermarkets all stock the Douwe Egberts Senseo coffee pods.
4. Being able to use an adapter called the Coffeeduck, this enables you to use what ever type of coffee you want. This clever adapter just leapfrogged the Senseo ahead of any competition, as its so, so easy to pop 2/3 spoons of your favourite fine ground coffee in to the holder, make your delicious coffee, complete with crema! and then just remove the coffeeduck and a quick rinse under the tap and your done. Makes no mess and makes an excellent quality cup of coffee so much cheaper.
I use Lavazza finely ground coffee and its as good a cup of coffee as any coffee shop will give you! So you have COMPLETE control over what type of coffee you want.

Just be sure to purchase the right size duck as they are different sizes for each generation of machine.
5. The coffee pods are more bio friendly, as they can be put in a compost heap!
My review is of the above machine the Senseo Viva Cafe HD7825, which is an improved machine I am led to believe.
Very easy machine to clean. To sum up, delighted with my purchase.

Excellent coffee machine, very quick to produce a fresh cup of coffee. Do buy a coffee duck for it, the quadrante coffee duck fits this specific machine. No need to buy expensive coffee pods as you can use whatever coffee you like with the coffee duck.
I use it every day.

If roasting coffee beans is an art, then turning them into perfect ground coffee is a science.
If the grind is too coarse, the coffee will brew too slowly, and the flavours will not fully develop. If it's too fine, the coffee will lack aroma and tend towards bitterness. Too much grinding is as bad as too little, for perfect coffee only 'just right' will do.
Different coffee machines work best with different grind sizes, so what works well in a cafetiere will produce dreadful coffee in an espresso machine.
Coffee can be ground with either a blade (chopped) or a burr (crushed). Blade grinders chop and re-chop each bean turning them into thousands of coffee fragments. The longer you chop the finer the blend becomes.

Gosh! How quickly do you want to grind coffee beans? This little gizzmo whizzes up coarse in 8 seconds, medium in 12 ; fine in 16 seconds. The only thing is that you, as the operator, have to judge how long to hold down the press-button switch but once you've mastered that plus watching progress through the transparent cover, it literally only takes seconds to produce enough grounds for "10" cups as marked on my drip coffee maker or, if you like to drink from big mugs like me, enough for 4 mugs.
Suggest new users first count to 10 before letting go of the button and then vary their count according to taste.
Would be 5 stars but the simple push-button switch is not idiot proof. Nevertheless, great value!

I really hope Krups continue this model for a very long time. Its perfect for every day use. We use it to grind 2 cups of coffee 2 x a day. It does it perfectly each time, going all the way to a fine grind. Emptying the result into the machine is simply a matter of shaking and taking off the lid.
Without a doubt the best grinder I've seen.

Can't disagree more with the other reviews - I love the machine.
The machine brews good coffee, I've had a couple of different blends in there and they all taste fine. There is a taste of plastic on the first brew, but if you flush the machines out 3 times as stated in the instructions it tastes OK. I went a little further and ran a brew with just water through the machine twice, then filled the tank with water and a little lemon juice (you know how lemon kills microwave smells etc...), let the water stand in the tank for an hour, then ran the lemon-juice/water mix through as a brew. Use proper lemon juice, not some lemon flavoured essence or whatever. I can't taste any plastic at all now.
But, most importantly - it keeps the coffee HOT HOT HOT for hours. There is a two-hour auto shut-off (which can't be disabled as far as I know) but if you switch the machine back on it re-heats the coffee soon enough. My old machine had a small hotplate and the coffee would go luke-warm after an hour or so and I used to hate that. The size of the plate on this machine is much bigger and the entire base of the jug sits on the plate (as opposed to some machines where just the middle of the jug sits on the base). This morphy richards model is much better than my last machine.
Two slight critisms. First, filling the tank is tricky - the opening is at the rear of the unit and the gap isn't very wide. Use the supplied jug and pour slow. Also, be careful condensation doesn't run down the back of the unit when you lift the lid while the unit is still hot. Second critism is that it comes out the box with a big transfer sticker on the front above the buttons and by the clock - this sticker covers the front of the unit and although it peels off OK leaves a mark which might take a while to fully get off.

Bought this even after reading the past reviews but I thought it was still looking like a good buy and I think it is. The only bad thing about it IS the condensation once its been used it DOES run down the back of machine so be advised and place a cloth at the back of it before you lift the lid It keeps it hot and its soo simple to use and clean, it looks good and Im very happy with it, simple timer and i didnt get any plastic taste from my machine nor did I have any annoying stickers on it. I didnt find a problem filling it with water either.. just use a jug So thats my opinion and I would buy another 1.

Coffee is one of those things that for some reason I cannot do - even instant coffee is beyond me! Seeing my guest's faces as I serve a perfect latte is just hilarious - there's no way I could ever do this without my Tassimo!
This is a great little machine and a big improvement over the old Tassimo machine. This new model machine is more compact and of a higher build quality than the old one. It has a larger 2litre water container which is now much less fiddly than before and can be very quickly removed/refilled with zero effort. You can prepare about 8 drinks before having to fill up the tank.
The hot drink is now prepared immediately with no waiting for the machine to warm up, it now takes 45 seconds from cold to prepare a standard drink - compare this to a kettly boiling which takes about double that time just to heat the water. A second drink can also be prepared immediately after the first without delay.
The quality of drinks is very high, it produces the best at-home hot chocolate that I have ever tasted! This maybe because the hot chocolate is made from syrup rather than the more commonly used powder. The coffee is also great and comes second only to freshly ground coffee - please remember it takes several minutes and a much more expensive machine to prepare coffee from scratch - this machine does an excellent job immitating those machines! I have not tried the tea so can not advise on those flavours.
The T-Discs (pods) themselves vary in price and flavour from brand to brand. Just standard Kenco coffee costs £2.99 (at Asda, Tesco etc) for 16 servings. This prepares a good regular tasting coffee at under 20p per mug. This is the same price for Twining's tea and Suchard's hot chocolate. For something a bit more fancy you can choose latte or cappucino from various brands including Carte Noire, for £2.99 or sometimes £3.49 for 8 servings which works out at 40-50p per cup. These items require 2 discs and so take a little bit longer to prepare.
Overall I would heartily recomend this Tassimo machine to any potential viewers but I must quickly point out a few of the pitfalls.
- You are limited to what coffee/tea/hot chocolate you buy - this is true of other pod coffee machines, but the Tassimo does have a very good selection to choose from.
- The portion size is too small for some people - hot chocolate is only 180ml. Latte/cappucino is 200ml. While most coffees are 300ml.
- Requires some cleaning (but not much)

I bought this as a pressie to myself after a new Kitchen was fitted and not only is it a pleasing item to be looked at but also a pleasure with the different brews it conjures up, although so far I've only tried three - out of eight purchased - again on the Internet.
I don't know if others work in a similar way, but after setting it up, (quite simple) you put one of two pods into a special receptable and press the button. The machine then reads the bar code which tells it whether or not it needs Water and what quantity. Then it delivers to your Cup and when satisfied it's finished, remove the Pod and drop in the second one - usually a liquid. The Machine reads again and follows the Bar code instructions to deliver the perfect cup of whatever you've chosen.
It's an expensive luxury if you want a few cups per day for example as each one will cost an average of 20/25p per cup. However, if like me, you like the differing tastes but don't over do it and can afford it, it's a little luxury worth having it.

Received this as a Christmas present from the stepchildren and love the machine - great coffee and really hot - however our package was missing the welcome pack and despite numerous emails etc to amazon we have been left without a satisfactory result. Once we got over the initial disappointment of not being able to test the machine before we went shopping to get a variety of pods, and also having to measure our cups and mugs to see which were the right size - we are delighted with the machine - wonderful coffee with great aroma and taste and temperature - would recommend this to any coffee lover with a good selection of pods being available to suit any coffee taste - just disappinted in amazon's lack of ability to replace the missing starter pack or offer a suitable alternative.

Got this for my birthday present. Very simple to use overall, and quick to produce rich, great tasting coffee.
I hadn't appreciated before receiving it that most coffees require two pods (one coffee and one milk), this adds up quite a bit and can make it quite expensive (works out at around 40p a cup).
I also noticed the milk pods are slightly sweetened which is a shame as I prefer a cappucino etc. to have no sugar in there.
If you've never used this pod machine before (like me), keep in mind that you control the amount that fills a cup. When reading the instructions for an espresso, it recommends 60ml. I had to guess this being that my cup doesn't come with measuring lines(!) and ended up producing a vile tasting watery coffee.
I'm sure after a few attempts I'll be making perfect coffee every time, but do keep this in mind as they're expensive mistakes to make!
I love this machine though, and look forward to many years of lovely tasting coffee. The iced cappucinos are a real bonus, and taste fantastic over lots of ice.

I had this on my wedding list and we have been so delighted since the day it arrived! We tried other coffee machines at friends' places but none impressed us too much - so we went for the NESCAFE. The Dolce Gusto pods are great quality and worth the money. I am impressived with the 'Italian taste' of the coffee base - as opposed to those American style that you get from starbucks. The promotional offer is great too, a free box of mixed pods come with the coffee and registering with them on the interest brings you another two free boxes.
Do remember to register [] you get points bits by bits: every box of pods you purchse you get 11 points when you enter the code, every 160 points you earn you get a free box of pods! During this time of the year, they are giving extra points that is worth 5 boxes of coffee!
I am so pleased with my ivory Dolce Gusto I would highly rate this and recommend this to every coffee lover!

Having been a fan of my neighbours Dolce Gusto, I purchased one for myself (and was v. impressed it was also available in Ivory to go with my kitchen!) .. The Lattes and Cappucinos are Delicious!
The pods are around £3.25 for 8, however, you`d spend that on one grande starbucks coffee!
Easy to clean, and if you register on there website, you get a free box of pods.
I`d Highly recommend this machine to everyone!
